Question: How can a landlord or tenant in Ontario get help with Landlord and Tenant Board forms, negotiations, and hearing representation?

Answer: Defend-it Legal Services provides Paralegal Services plus Private Investigation, Background Searches & Fingerprinting Agency support to help Ontario landlords, tenants, and property managers prepare LTB paperwork, negotiate dispute resolutions, and advocate at hearings so you stay in the proper forum and avoid delays or dismissals.  Call (289) 275-3513 to discuss your situation and get a clear plan for next steps across Ontario.

Advocacy For Landlords

Defend-it Legal Services provides legal services for landlords as the owners of residential rental properties as well as for property managers as agent acting for the actual landlord.  The services available may include document preparation involving the various Landlord Tenant Board forms, dispute resolution negotiations, representation as advocates at Landlord Tenant Board hearings, among other things.  In short, Defend-it Legal Services provides legal help for many of the various dispute issues that may commonly, or uniquely, arise within a landlord and tenant relationship.

Advocacy For Tenants

To a tenant, your rental dwelling is 'your home'. Of course, 'home' means something unique to everyone and these special feelings are recognized. With this said, Defend-it Legal Services also recognizes that impartial empathy is often necessary to remain focused upon the legal issues and to remain an objective advisor and negotiator. Defend-it Legal Services helps tenants to resolve disputes by first reviewing the facts and issues and then by working to negotiate a resolution with the landlord. If resolution is evasive, Defend-it Legal Services can prepare the required Landlord Tenant Board forms and advocate at Landlord Tenant Board hearings.

Defend-it Legal Services provides legal services for Landlord and Tenant Board matters involving Eviction for Non-Payment of Rent, Eviction for Unlawful Conduct, and more, as issues common to concerns governed by the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006S.O. 2006, Chapter 17.  With this said, sometimes when a dispute involves a residential landlord and tenant, certain issues must proceed at the Landlord Tenant Board.  The failure to bring specific issues into the proper forum may cause a dismissal the proceedings.  It is also possible that when a dispute is brought into the wrong forum, the right to a redo or a restart of proceedings in the proper forum is lost.  Accordingly, choosing the proper forum is imperative.  With other cases, such as commercial tenancy disputes, the issues are always beyond the jurisdiction of the Landlord Tenant Board and must be pursued in the Superior Court depending on the legal issues involved.

NOTE: A considerable quantity of inquiries featuring “lawyers near me” or “best lawyer in” frequently indicate a desire for prompt, competent legal representation rather than a particular professional designation.  In Ontario, licensed paralegals are governed by the same Law Society that regulates lawyers and possess the authority to represent clients in specified litigation matters.  Advocacy, legal analysis, and procedural expertise are fundamental to that role.  Defend-it Legal Services provides legal representation within its licensed framework, focusing on strategic positioning, evidentiary preparation, and persuasive advocacy aimed at securing efficient and favourable outcomes for clients.
