The process of determining whether a person has a criminal record or not requires the applicant's name and date of birth or fingerprints; and is known as a criminal background check; sometimes also referred to as a Police check or CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre).

Defend-It Legal Services accepts only original identification documents as per RCMP (roay Canadian Mounted Police) requirements. At least one (1) of the two (2) requisite identification documents must include the applicant's photo and signature on it.
